In Loving Memory of Virgil L. Moore April 10, 1960 – September 1, 2025
Virgil L. Moore, age 65, of Franklin, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 1st, 2025. A beloved husband, father, “Pap”, brother, uncle, and friend, Virgil's warm heart, quiet strength, and deep devotion to family will be missed more than words can express.
Born on April 10, 1960, to the late Lawrence and Elsie Bland Moore, Virgil grew up surrounded by a large, loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Asia Moore; brothers Raymond, Cornelius, and Oscar; sisters Ida May Moore, Jimella Smith, and Mattie Kirby; and his special brother-in-law, Jim Brooks of Cleveland, TN.
A man of deep loyalty and compassion, Virgil was the true definition of a devoted family man. He leaves behind the love of his life, his cherished wife Diane Moore, whom he married on December 1st, 2002. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure; especially in their shared passion for traveling and capturing meaningful moments through family photography.
Virgil was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins, a passion that began in childhood and never wavered. Whether watching a game or reminiscing about seasons past, his team brought him great joy and a connection to the memories of his youth.
Virgil is survived by his wife and his children: Shonte L. Kirk of Franklin, KY; Chris (Abigail) Johnson; Michelle Banther; and Traci (Ken) Rankin. His legacy lives on in his beloved grandchildren: Andre Bell Jr., Zoe Bell, and Kiely Kirk, all of Franklin, KY., Brandon (Haylee) Banther, Bryce (Maddy) Hixson, Kailyn (Sam) Wyrick, Jake Dockins, Caragan Cabrera, and Averly Johnson all of Cleveland, TN.
He is also survived by his siblings: James and Robert Moore, both of Franklin, KY; Sarah Moore of Franklin, KY; and Maudella McKinney of Bowling Green, KY. As well as his special brother in-law, Joe (Lisa) Brooks, Helen Brooks (Fab 4), of Cleveland, TN, and Kathy Raymer of Celina, TN with whom he shared special memories and moments with over the years.
In addition to his immediate family, Virgil leaves behind a special nephew, Curtis Smith, a special cousin, Bettie Sue Goodnight, and many more beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind his lifelong friend, Danny Rice, with whom he shared decades of friendship, memories, and unwavering loyalty.
Virgil's gentle spirit, kind smile, and unwavering love for his family created a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Visitation will be held at Crafton Funeral Home starting at 11AM, and service to follow at 1 PM (CST), Saturday, September 20th, 2025.
