Velda Phillips

Velda Elizabeth Phillips, 80, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of Sunday, May 3rd. Velda was born and raised in Fort Payne, Alabama, but lived the rest of her life and raised her family in the Rossville community.

Velda was employed by Picket, Tarpley and Associates for most of her career. She re-enrolled in school after having her two children and gained a degree in Structural Steel Design. A number of years later, Velda retired to help raise her three grandchildren. Velda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren doing various activities they were interested in. She most enjoyed seeing others happy.

Velda was preceded in death by her son, Billy Lewayne, and her husband, Billy Phillips, of 56 years in 2018. Velda was a loving wife, mother and sister who will forever be remembered by her children, Brian (Kelly) and Angela (Rick), grandchildren, Danyelle (Jarell), Dylan, Beck (Cheyenne), Zack and Gordan, and great-grandchildren, Brantley, Kamdyn, Aurora, and Ivory.
