Jennifer “Jenny” Yvonne King Burge, age 64 of Calhoun, TN and formally of Linden, AL, passed away June 10th, 2025 at home surrounded by family after an extended battle with breast cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 15th, 2025 3:00 p.m. at Taylorville Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa, AL with Pastor Ken May officiating. The celebration and visitation will continue after the service in the Family Life Center of the church.
Jenny was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jennifer Christine Burge; her parents, Howard C. and Brenda Stokes King of Linden, AL; parents-in-law, Earl and Emily Burge also of Linden, AL; sister, Jerry King; stepbrother, Van King; sister-in-law, Patty King; grandparents, Milton Charles and Ester Mae Stokes and step-grandmother Wynell Glass Stokes.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Lowell Burge; son, Charles “Charlie” Burge (Megan) of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Hardy Burge and Caroline Burge of Cumming, GA; sister, Joyce Glass (Eddie); stepbrothers, Johnny King and Joe King (Linda); brother-in laws, Rett Burge (Kay), Wally Burge (Candice); sister-in-law, Emily Burge; nieces and nephews, Stephanie King, Justin King, Jody King (Monica), Jeffery King, Kristen King Brown (Dawson), Kim King Johnson (Alex), Christopher Burge, Michael Burge (Elizabeth), Ruth Ellen Burge, Everett Burge (Jessica), Emily Rebecca Burge, Taylor Burge and Sarah Burge and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jenny graduated from Marengo Academy High School in 1979. While living in Scottsboro, AL she worked with the Tots to Teen program at Scottsboro High School for many years. After moving to Calhoun, TN for her husband’s work she was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time outside on the water or tending to her flower gardens. She was involved in her community in many ways. Most recently she volunteered with the Hands and Feet ministry of First Baptist Church of Cleveland where she was a member.
She will always be remembered for her giving heart, beautiful smile and outgoing personality which led to easy conversation with all she came in contact with. She loved her family, her church and everyone that she met. She cherished her role as "GiGi". She supported Hardy and Caroline in all events they were involved in. Jenny loved spending time with family at the beach and in Tuscaloosa supporting her favorite team. Roll Tide! She will be missed by many.
