It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hollis Smith, affectionately known to many as "Tiny." Hollis was born on June 16, 1959, in Knoxville, Tennessee, and he departed this life on September 9, 2025, at Decatur Wellness and Rehab.

Hollis was a proud graduate of Lenoir City High School, where he was part of the class of 1978. His life was characterized by a warm smile and a gift for making people laugh. With a great sense of humor, Hollis had a knack for telling jokes and teasing those he cared about, often navigating life's challenges with laughter. He believed that joy was essential, and this spirit of levity was a testament to his resilience during difficult times.

In addition to his infectious laughter, Hollis possessed a beautiful singing voice. He frequently shared his talent at church and enjoyed karaoke, captivating those around him with his performances. His love for music was not just a pastime; it was a means through which he brought comfort and blessings to others, notably during his time at the Decatur Wellness Center, where he sang to uplift the spirits of his fellow residents.

Hollis served in the Navy, a decision that reflected his adventurous nature. However, his love for home soon proved too strong, and after multiple departures without permission, he was kindly advised to stay home—an anecdote that epitomizes his strong connection to family and comfort. Even as a young boy, he cherished the warmth of home, a characteristic that stayed with him throughout his life.

Hollis is survived by his sister, Patricia G. Lawhorn; nieces Christy Ingram and Misty Smith; nephew Greg Noe; and a host of other family members, including Zach Shirk, Megan Shirk, Sullivan Norton, and Forrest Noe. He was preceded in death by his father, W. Archie Smith; mother, Virginia R. (Tootsie) Smith; brother, John M. Smith; and nephew, David Smith.

As we remember Hollis, we celebrate a special human being whose love for God and laughter were apparent in everything he did. His legacy of joy and faith will resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he spread so generously throughout his life.
