IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Derrick David
Wilson
September 8, 1991 – March 12, 2026
Derrick David Wilson, born on September 8, 1991, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2026, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Derrick’s life was marked by a profound hands-on spirit and an infectious warmth that illuminated every room he entered. He was a man who truly found joy in the simple, meaningful moments—whether he was working on cars, especially cherishing the time spent fixing his mother’s car, or immersed in the tranquility of fishing in the woods. Derrick’s practical skills were undeniable; a gifted handyman, he could repair anything, a testament to his dedication and love for helping others.
Those who knew Derrick remember him as a beacon of light and laughter, someone whose cheerful mood endeared him to all. His personality was larger than life—he was perfect with children, taking great pride in being a beloved uncle. Among the many children in his expansive family, Addy held a special place in his heart until she grew, and then little Emerson captivated him completely. The tender moments they shared, such as Emerson’s singing, were so precious they would lull him to sleep. Derrick was also an enthusiastic sports fan, passionately supporting the New York Giants and Ohio State University teams, often engaging in spirited games of basketball and football with family.
Derrick was deeply devoted to those closest to him, standing firmly beside his all-time favorite person, Dillion. He was a steadfast protector and a source of comfort to everyone in his family. If anyone needed him, Derrick was always ready to answer the call. His pride in being a dependable, caring figure was evident in every interaction.
A loving son, brother, and uncle, Derrick is survived by his mother Tina Benson, sister Chelsea Wilson, brother Cody Wilson, nephews Rilee and Bentlee Burson, brother-in-law Bryan Casalvera, and many other family members and friends who cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved father Bryan Keith Benson, as well as his uncles Burley Wilson and Rex (Tony) Benson.
Derrick’s life was a testament to kindness, helpfulness, and dedication. He found purpose in assisting others, whether through fixing vehicles or supporting loved ones. The close bonds he shared with his brother Cody, sister Chelsea, and time spent joyfully with his nephews, along with his deep connection to his father Bryan Benson—whom he was ready to be with—highlight the enduring legacy he leaves behind.
We remember Derrick David Wilson not only for his practical talents and hobbies but for the profound joy and protection he offered his family. His radiant spirit and unwavering love remain in the hearts of all who knew him. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the support and love during this difficult time as they celebrate Derrick’s life and the indelible mark he made on everyone he touched.
